Zoe-perry
Perry was born to actors Laurie Metcalf, and Jeff Perry. On the ABC sitcom Roseanne (as shown in flashback) Her mother played Jackie Harris in two of Perry's early TV appearances. Her parents, however, didn't want her to perform until she turned an adult, fearing the effects of stress. Perry acknowledged that she was not comfortable acting in high school, but started doing it to connect with new people at Northwestern University after switching from Boston University. When she graduated, Perry went in New York to search for jobs on television, landing small parts in shows like Law & Order: Criminal Intent but homesickness brought the actress back to California which is where she discovered theater jobs. The Other Place was performed by her and her mother in 2013 on Broadway in 2013. Perry was in the show with her father Kevin McKidd and Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize winning drama Anna Christie in 2015 in The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble, West Los Angeles. Perry appeared nine times in The Family, an ABC thriller The Family, in 2016. Perry was a regular character in the ABC drama about politics Scandal, starring her dad. In the same year, she appeared as a younger version of Mary Cooper on Young Sheldon (a CBS spinoff The Big Bang Theory) as her mother in a younger version. The actress was chosen for the role despite having a close familial connection to the character.
